Kuranda Koala Gardens

Located in the Kuranda Heritage Markets on Rob Veivers Drive, our boutique wildlife park features the best of Australian wildlife. Kuranda Koala Gardens is one of few places in North Queensland where you can pat a friendly Koala for a large souvenir photo (extra cost). Besides many Koalas, the park is home to wombats, quokkas, gliders, and freshwater crocodiles. Hand-feed our tame kangaroos and wallabies, then discover ‘creatures of the night’ in our walk-thru nocturnal exhibit.

Bird World Kuranda

The north’s largest free-flight aviary is located next door to Kuranda Koala Gardens. Birdworld Kuranda is home to over 350 native and exotic birds, including friendly parrots and colourful macaws. Jumrum Creek Conservation Park

Explore a tropical rainforest in the heart of Kuranda Village. The short 750m one-way walk can be accessed from Barang Street or Barron Falls Road. Discover climbing palms, giant Liana vines and ancient trees. The park is habitat for the endangered Kuranda Tree Frog.

River and Rainforest Walk

3 walks in 1. The River Walk, Jungle Walk and Jum Rum Trail link together to create a 3km (45-60 min) walk following the banks of the Barron River before entering the tropical rainforest. Cross over the railway lines at the station, take the steps to the river and walk downstream. Walk exits at Coondoo St near the Visitor Centre.

Barron Falls

Visit one of Queensland’s most popular National Parks. The 1200 metre return walk (40 minutes) winds through lush rainforest on elevated boardwalks before arriving at the lookout, overlooking the mighty Barron Falls. A wheelchair is accessible with assistance.

Davies Creek Falls

The turnoff to Davies Creek National Park is approx. 21 km from Kuranda. Drive towards Mareeba on the Kennedy Highway. Take the left turn then drive 6 km to the campground and the numerous swimming holes amongst huge granite boulders. Continue on up the mountain to the waterfall car park. The 1.1km circuit track takes you to the top of the 75m waterfall.

The Kuranda Explorer package includes three great attractions: Birdworld Kuranda, Kuranda Koala Gardens and the Kuranda Riverboat.
